Why play it?

Having a community is essential for all of us to feel safe and comfortable. Study start brings a challenge to all the students and the teachers to welcome new students. As a result of co-creation, we have created a platform to support community building. It is a Treasure hunt-type of game that uses QR codes and mobile devices. Anyone can become a creator or a player. This platform can be used in many ways, like team building, exploring a new environment, or getting to know each other better in a more interesting setting.

How to play the game?

  • Each team needs only one mobile device
  • Open the DigiLives website and choose “Play a game”
  • Type in the Game code
  • Allow the website to use the phone’s camera
  • Get clues
  • Scan the QR code using the website’s inbuilt scanner
  • Do the tasks
  • Take pictures and videos
  • Share the results with your game creator
  • Have fun

How to create the game?

  • Work alone or with others. We recommend working with older students.

#1 Plan

  • Make a plan for the game
    • What will your players see?
    • What will they do?
  • Use our templates and ideas for inspiration

#2 Create a game

  • Use any device
  • Open the DigiLives web page and choose “Create a game”
    • Location: Write directions where they need to go
    • Task: Write what task will they need to do at this location
  • A QR code will be generated automatically
  • Press “+” to add another checkpoint
  • Press the trash icon to delete a checkpoint

#3 Set up the game

  • Press the Download icon to get a PDF of your game.
  • Print it out
  • Read the instructions
  • Cut it up
  • Put the QR codes in the chosen locations. Due to safety, it will be a good idea to print your codes on a specific piece of paper, either the color or the texture, so that the students are sure that it is your game.

#4 Form the teams

  • Form teams of 4-5 players
  • Prepare each team with a different Game code (Read the instructions in the PDF or the video below)

#5 (Optional) Set up a space for sharing

  • Choose how you will receive the results (Read the instructions in the PDF)
  • Set up a nice place to chill with your players after the game

Standalone game

Copy the file. Customize it and add your game code. Place it in a well-seen location for players to play it on their own time.
The QR code will send them directly to the website to play a game.
